: Hang in there...in 1988 when my mom was 37 years old she had a syrinx (dont remember the size but if you still want to know please send me a private email). She got the shunt and the problem for the most part has been under control. She still gets slight cramping even with the shunt but she said she learned to deal with it. There is a medication called Quanine Sulfate (not sure of the spelling) that she had to resort to in the last few years. It makes her life bearable. If you have more questions please email me and I can put you in touch with my mother. It might help you to actually talk to someone who has been through what you are experiencing. Wish you the best. : : Just found out I have a syrnix (a fluid filled cyst) in my spinal cord that is 3 cm long and 2.5 wide, and is destroying my spinal cord from the inside --> out.

: : : I am very scared ... I am a 34 year old divorced mom of 2 young girls ... all the options I've read about are very scarey -- shunts or lamenectomy ... I've got other spine troubles --> three protruding disks in my L-spine, and 2 protruding disks in my C-spine ... I had a car accident 4 years ago -- my doctor then kept telling me it was soft tissue damage and nerves and did trigger point injections and physical therapy -- never did an MRI -- now the case is "closed", this could be considered pre-existing by my insurance company -- and I don't know what to do ... my hands and arms are weak and my hips and legs hurt, my toes go numb ... it's crazy

: : : Has anyone out there been through dealing with a Syrnix .. is mine considered 'large' ... or small ...what can I expect to have happen to me now.

: : : I have my appt. with a neurosurgeon on Friday -- what should I ask ... what can I do

: : : AUGH -- I'm so sad ... someone please help ...

: : Though the case is closed there still may be something an accident lawyer can help with, so get one ASAP that will wait for pay til a case is won. There are always different angles to work from. Get a creative lawyer..don't give up til you find one!
