1/99 I had fusion w/allograft at C3-4,C4-5 and C5-6. A titanium plate was installed for support. 5 months later I went back for a foraminectomy at C6-7.It was not totally unexpected as the neurosurgeon explained after the first surgery that additional stress could be expected at the disks above and below due to the reduced flexibility. This may be what has happened to you. My advice is find a good neurosurgeon who will fix it and do it soon. Dr. Bruce McCormack, Ca. Pacific Hospital In San Francisco, Ca is who i went to. Three weeks now since last surgery, arm strength is coming back. Still have pain fron internal stitches but that will go away soon. Good luck!

Just was wondering if you had any dificulties swallowing after your second surgery?
My husband (35 now) had an operation on C5-C6 (fusion) back in 1994 after the surgery he had no problems, everything seemed to be fine, etc.
In 1998 he has another surgery C6-C7 with fusion and plate, to date, he still has pain in through his shoulders, down both arms and the last 3 fingers on both hads go numb. But he also cannot swallow. He was 215 lbs in 9/98 (surgery) and 158 lbs (jan 99). Apparently they had stretched muscles or nerves in the throat area. They tried a feeding tube because of the lose of weight, but the Dr. wound up puncturing his liver and 3 days later he had emergency surger to move it to another area of the stomach. I could go on with the complications, but my real question, goes back to did you have any problems swallowing after your second surgery and did anyone indicate to you that this could happend. (sorry so long)
