I tend to stress out too... there are some things, cognitively, that help me sometimes:

Imagining a day in the future, like in a month or maybe even longer, and telling ymself: THEN all this will be done with and I will still be here and this will be past! Just imagining that there will be a time when the particular stressful or worrysome thing is over... you know that saying: "Today is the tomorrow that I worried about - was it worth it???"

If I can't sleep, sometimes - that i read somewhere actually - I try to calm myself down by telling myself: Right this second, there is really NOTHING I can do about this. Worrying will NOT solve the problem.
Some people suggest to write the stressful thoguhts or worries down, and tell yourself: Ok I am going to deal with this tomorrow.

Another idea is to schedule a specific time of the day for dealing with or thinking about or worrying about something. For example, if something stresses you out, you can then tell yourself: 2 o'clock to 2.30 is worry time - I will deal with that then. It can really work! Then you won't feel guilty about not dealing with it NOW, because you will deal with it later.

Writing all the things to do down also helps me a lot. Making a list. For example, before I go on a trip or something. OH I tend to stress so much then! But it is better when iw rite stuff down, and what is done, I cross out.

I don't know what your faith is, but praying helps me a LOT. Praying for sleep helps me sleep. Praying and knowing that I am not alone and God is there and protects me - is such a comforting thought.
