: Hi Cathy, I, too, am the wife of a stroke survivor. It is on-the-job training you will continue to get. No doubt by this time you are seeing improvements and will continue to as he has time to heal. It is very hard and you will need to talk to friends and loved ones about the situation that you are in. Allow yourself to be upset but make yourself keep smiling for YOU and for your husband. Drs. may tell you that there is limited time for recovery; don't listen. As Larry said, recovery (however big or small)continues to come and is so appreciated! You two are not alone; there are many stroke survivors and caregivers -- just do alot of talking and praying! It's hard, but you'll do fine.

Hi Cathy,

I am also a full-time caregiver for my husband, whose hemorrhagic stroke occurred 8/16/99. I am available for chat via AOL (Instant Messenger) or ICQ. You may e-mail me @ [email protected] I have found my best encouragement, understanding from those who have "been there", and who knows, we may learn something from each other. Good luck to you and your husband.
