First off, I'm not trting to deter you from the Atkin's diet...try it, and see. If it doesn't work for you, it didn't for me, try the type A diet, it is diffently working for me.

Foods that encourage weight gain: Meat, dairy foods, kidney beans, lima beans, too much wheat.

Foods that encourage weight loss: Vegetable oils, soy foods, veggies, pineapple.

Foods to eat: Chicken, turkey, cornish hen, cod, mackerel, salmon, whitefish, tuna, sea bass, swordfish, soya cheese, soy milk, low-fat mozzarella, low fat ricotta, yogurt, olive oil, peanuts, peanut butter almonds, macadamia nuts, poppy seeds,sesame seeds, sunflower seeds walnuts, black beans, green beans, pinto beans, lentils, snap beans, string beans, green beans, pea pods, uckwheat, barley, cornflakes, oatmeal, ezekiel bread, sprouted wheat breads, rye bread, rye crackers, rice flour pasta, brown rice, artichokes, broccoli, carrots, escarole, garlic, onions, pumpkin, tofu, turnips, avocado, beets, cauliflower, cerely, corn, lettuce, portobello mushrooms, brussel sprouts, all squashes, zucchini, apricots,grapefruit, lemons, pineapple, plums, apples grapes, watermelon, peaches, pears, coffee, green tea, red wine.

Foods to avoid: All beef, bacon, duck, ham, pork, veal, clams, crab, oysters, shrimp, sole, All dairy except for: low fat mozz and ricotta, and yogurt, corn oil, safflower oil, sesame oil, cashews, pistachios, brazil nuts, kidney beans, lima beans, navy beans, granola, wheat germ, hprotein bread, multi grain bread, whole wheat bread, pumpernickel,white flour, semolina pasta,cabbage, eggplant, black/green/spanish olives, red/green peppers, sweet/white/red potatoes, tomatoes, yams, bananas, coconut, cant.melon, oranges, ketchup, mayo, pickles, worchestershire sauce, beer, distilled liquor, cola, diet soda, black tea, seltzer water.

I couldn't list everything on each list, but I typed the most popular foods.

I haven't been following this way of eating to the "T", I'm working with the major components of it though: No meat, No dairy, No wheat. I buy rice pasta in the organic section at the market and mix soy margarine, pinto beans, and broccoli.

Soy butter tastes exactly like butter! I enjoy low-fat refried pinto beans with low fat nacho chips for a snack, and also peanuts.

There are many foods to eat or combine...but most importantly: avoid meat and cheese. WOW! what a contradiction to the Atkin's diet! We are the vegetarian blood type...that's the way it is, and you will look and feel better eating this way. I've lost 7 pounds in three weeks and I feel great!
