: hi...i'm a 23 year old woman living in rthe past two years i've been wanting to get a tubal ligation procedure done to me and all the doctors here in toronto refuse to perform this procedure, telling me i'm too young and i can't possibly know if i want a child yet or not...i am almost 100 percent sure i do not want to have kids...but please regard that fact for one moment...has anyone tied their tubes and do you have any recommendations on where i should go and what doctor i can see who is more lenient on this matter without being too judgemental on my age??? i do not talk lightly so please anyone who cares to help me...write to me...thank you...

I live in the United States, and doctors here have the same opinion. They just don't want to do something that you may regret later. You are very young, and have almost 20 years on your biological clock. I can understand the doctor not wanting to do it. BUT, my cousin had her tubes tied, but wasn't 100% sure that she would not want any more children (she has one). She was in her thirties, though. What HER doctor did was this: He tied her tubes, but did not do the cutting and cauterization of them. She could easily have a reversal, without a guarantee of it working. Have you asked your doctors about the possibility of just tying them, without cutting? It would leave you an option of reversal, should you opt for it. Also, do you have a male partner? Would he get a vascectomy? It's an easier procedure, and also reversible........
